Collins Communications provides writing, training and consulting services to a variety of clients including schools, private industry, small businesses, government agencies and non-profit organizations.

Janis Collins brings 30 years of work in communications to the table. Her experience ranges from reporting the news live on television to making strategic communications decisions for one of the largest organizations in Oregon.

She has served as director of public affairs for the Oregon Department of Transportation and communications director for the Oregon Forest Resources Institute. Dealing with issues from controversial construction projects to clear cutting honed her management and communication skills.

Her resume also includes more than a decade of experience as a reporter at KOIN TV, the Oregonian and KVAL TV. She still loves to tell a compelling story with a fresh approach.

She taught English in Oregon high schools and journalism at University of Oregon. She brings her love of language, knowledge of the news media and talent for teaching to her training seminars today.

At every level of her career she learned that clear, honest and credible communication is crucial to any organization’s success. She enjoys helping clients develop key messages and delivering them effectively.

Janis has a strong belief in community service. She has served as an officer of the Public Relations Society of America and is on the board of directors for Rebuilding Together* Washington County, which rehabilitates homes for low- income, disabled and elderly homeowners. She is chair of the Beaverton Education Foundation, which provides private funding for school programs. She gives communication training to Dress for Success clients, low-income women transitioning into the workforce.
